DEATH Resurrects Live Performance
I’ve been to Glastonbury for the last 4 years and it just gets better every time. This year, the 40 th anniversary of the festival’s birth in the 1000 acres Somerset fields making up Michael Eavis’ legendary farm, was no exception. Who would have thought that something which began as “Pilton Pot Festival” which cost £1 entry, with free milk from the farm itself, could have become the amazing and renowned event which over 177,000 people attended this year?
To me, Beyonce is a talented and incredibly entertaining performer. I respect her longevity in show business where others (particularly child stars) have veered off-course, to put it politely. However, something doesn’t sit quite right with me in terms of how little we really know her but maybe that’s my problem. Of course we don’t actually know her but there are many artists who are all about the music and stay out of the limelight and you focus solely on their music because of that. I see young girls and ladies my age and older aspire to have her life, they idolize her relationship and imitate her every move.
Noel was born in London to Rex Harrison and his first wife, Collette Thomas; they divorced when he was eight. He attended private schools, including Radley college, Oxfordshire, and when he was 16 his mother invited him to live with her in Klosters, Switzerland. He jumped at the chance, which allowed him to develop his gifts as a skier. He became a member of the British ski team and competed at the Winter Olympics in Norway in 1952 and Italy in 1956.
A particularly dedicated Ellie Goulding fan made what looked like 100 paper hearts, and distributed them to first few rows of audience members. The crowd then held up these hearts during Goulding’s Elton John cover, “Your Song”. The effect was truly amazing. Fan participation was definitely at a premium this night, at one point during her performance of “Guns and Horses” Goulding dropped out completely and fans picked up the lyrics at full volume.
The highlight of possibly the entire festival came when Bassnectar dropped his massive hit with Nelly Furtado, "Magical World" – which although a little old – was a track that when released brought dubstep into listener's living rooms and car stereos. Unlike other songs of the night, 'nectar left Magical World relatively intact, and played the melodic track near the end of his set in beautiful fashion, searing life long memories into the hearts of his endearing fans. He also played his remix of "Lights", a huge track that he remixed by Ellie Goulding which provided another slowed down – but heart warming moment in the evening.
