The Legend Of Korra Season 3 Premiere Sneak Peek
The Legend of Korra Book 2 premiere continues the high level of quality of Book 1 without missing a beat. The story picks up after Amon’s defeat. Angry spirits are attacking fishermen (in a pretty terrifying but brief opening scene). Korra is living with Tenzin and she’s (literally) spinning her wheels (or air ball as it is).
Korra had the benefit of a great villain in that first season, with Amon representing the disenfranchised masses that are fighting for a fair chance while the upper class thrives on their suffering. The industrial age introduced a political atmosphere that was a considerable change from the world of Avatar , and the first season used this new period to tell a story about the ongoing war between high and low social classes. Then Amon went away, the spirit world got angry, and the series got lost for a season.
One of Zaheer’s companions, a woman named Ming-Hua, has what is one of the more spectacular character introductions in recent memory, by using waterbending to give herself arms. Who else could properly give voice to this deadly beauty than Azula herself, Ms. Grey DeLisle? Her melodic yet menacing tone is perfect for this new villain, who will undoubtedly give team avatar a run for their money. Since this premiere is the gift that keeps on giving, Ming-Hua was not the only interesting character to grace us with their presence.
After being recently kidnapped and stripped of her bending powers, the game begins with Korra on a desperate journey to the Air Temple in hopes of restoring her lost abilities. The first main objective is to collect healing Spirit water in the form of glowing water droplets scattered in the area. With no abilities just yet, Korra can only rely on her basic kung fu training of light and heavy attacks. In addition to her dodging and counter techniques, she also has “finishing” moves that can be executed when ending a quick combo with a heavy attack. There is even a button for contextual finishing moves for when an enemy becomes stunned.
Dealing with a situation like The Legend of Korra episode leaks is tricky, especially when the origin of the story came from Nickelodeon doing what they had to, to be ready for a fall premiere. It’ll be interesting to see what the ratings look like this Friday, but it would be a lie to say the series has been given its best chance to succeed financially after this date shift. Perhaps the only silver lining is The Legend of Korra ’s already secured a fourth season that’s currently in production, so ratings only mean so much at this point.
