Netflix To Announce Second Original Series, “Orange Is The New Black”

Now that the whole second season of House of Cards has hit the internet, Netflix can turn its attention to their other super-addicting hit series – Orange Is the New Black The video streaming service has just revealed the premiere date for all thirteen episodes of OITNB season two, and they threw in a little teaser trailer with their announcement. Every sentence has a story in the smash hit series Orange Is The New Black - Season One arriving on Blu-ray Disc (plus Digital HD UltraViolet), and DVD (plus Digital UltraViolet) May 13 from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. The series will be available on Digital HD one week prior on May 6. Hailed by critics as "magnificent and thoroughly engrossing" (Washington Post), the hugely popular dark comedy from "Weeds" creator Jenji Kohan broke viewing records for its premiere season. Starring Taylor Schilling (Argo, Stay) in a Golden Globe nominated performance, Orange Is The New Black also won "TV Program Of The Year" from the American Film Institute (AFI).

Orange Is the New Black has received positive reviews from critics. For Season 1, Metacritic gives a score of 79/100 based on reviews from 31 critics, indicating generally favorable reviews. 22 Rotten Tomatoes gives a score of 89%, with an average rating of 8.4/10 based on 37 reviews. The site's consensus is " Orange Is the New Black is a sharp mix of black humor and dramatic heft, with interesting characters and an intriguing flashback structure." 23

The "Orange is the New Black" season 2 premiere date may be a mystery, but co-executive producer Sarah Hess teased a photo on Twitter of a potential timeline for second season shooting. So, if we want to speculate when the prison series will finish filming based on what looks like a container of cheese puffs, viewers can expect the show to wrap in January.
