2014 Greater Washington Region Heart Ball
Life Ball 2014 is focusing on transgender issues as apparent in the brand-spank us new promotional posters for the annual event. Shot by David LaChapelle, this year's posters feature trans model and RuPaul's Drag Race alumnus Carmen Carrera, fully nude, as both "Adam" and "Eve."This message is going out to every student who purchased a ticket to attend Winter Ball on Saturday February 8, 2014. We know circumstances come up and students sometimes change their minds and are no longer able to attend. We also are aware that many students still would like the opportunity to purchase a ticket for this event. As a result, for this event only we are offering the opportunity to refund purchasers should they no longer be able to attend the event and we will be reissuing these refunded tickets back to the student body.
The Life Ball Poster 2014 by David LaChapelle forms a central part of the creative collaboration and common message. The photographic artwork was mainly inspired by this year’s Life Ball motto “ The Garden of Earthly Delights ” and Hieronymus Bosch’ utopia of a diverse society, living together passionately and peacefully, as if the Fall of Man had never happened and people had never been expelled from Paradise. David LaChapelle’s interpretation shows the transgender woman and model Carmen Carrera naked in the midst of Bosch’s Garden scenery in both sexes, female and male. “Gender lines are blurred and every person is unique in how they see themselves.
But there is even more to come and to expect at Life Ball 2014. David LaChapelle’s handwriting will be visible again through imaginative visuals during the Opening Ceremony at Vienna City Hall Square, where “The Garden of Earthly Delights” will be brought to life and will be perceptible with all senses. To further support Life Ball’s fund-raising for essential AIDS projects, the photographer is going to design a one-of-a-kind car for Audi, one of the main sponsors of the charity event, on a voluntary basis. The unique Audi S1 designed by David LaChapelle will also be auctioned at the AIDS Solidarity Gala.
