Ronda Rousey Vs. Alexis Davis (Video)
UFC bantamweight Alexis Davis made a good point after her most recent win (in February against Jessica Eye) when she asked, rhetorically, who else in the UFC women's 135 pound division was 3-0 other than her and champion Ronda Rousey. No one, it turns out.
Coming off two wins over a man who is on any short list of the greatest MMA fighters of all time in Anderson Silva has done wonders for Weidman, his status, and his confidence. It seems like the public is begrudging in giving Weidman his just due. Like in his last fight, his second win over Silva, everyone focused on the gruesome knee injury suffered by “The Spider” rather that what Weidman did right, which is use great timing to make it so Silva’s leg collided violently with his knee. Weidman does a lot of little things like that. He’s very smart and cool in the eye of the storm-able to think on his feet and come up with the right moves.
Alexis employs high closed guard (closed but high up almost around your shoulders). This helps to kill posture making it hard to land GnP and also to pull out of it by standing/posturing out. Ronda appears to have no patience to work proper BJJ passes and would rather power out by posturing/standing to get a re-start on the feet or work her standing passes. Alexis has been very good at sinking armbars/omaplatas during this pulling out and/or switching to a footlock when you do this. Ronda has not met a good positional switcher in BJJ which Alexis is, and we will get a good chance to see how she fares this weekend.

Ronda Rousey is the most dominant champion in UFC (current) history. Rousey is now 10-0 with 10 finishes. Alexis Davis was her latest victim, lasting just 16-seconds. Rousey put Davis down with a punch, knee and judo throw and finished her with punches.
