Missouri became the 23rd lottery in the United Statesafter voters resoundingly approved a constitutional amendment in November 1984;the measure passed with a 70 percent vote. A bill created the Missouri Lotterythe following spring, and ticket sales began on January 20, 1986. The firstgame was Jackpot ‘86, a $1 instant ticket, and first-day sales set arecord for the time of $5.6 million in total and $1.14 per capita. Sales thatfirst week topped $23.8 million.

Originally, proceeds from the Lottery were sent to the state’s GeneralFund. The WoO is looking into the American Racer MC2 that the URC and Super Sportsman use – cost $160.00 to $170.00. But the WoO wants the MC2 compound with a stiffer sidewall. That would increase the cost to $215.00. Engine builder Don Ott has been in contact with most of the Pa teams in an effort to see what can be done as far as keeping the cost down. (Hey, even I agree with Mr. Ott – $215.00 is a bit much for a tire).
