Evidence That Lady Stoneheart Will Be In Season 4 SPOILERS
Diehard ‘Game Of Thrones’ fans have been up in arms ever since the Season 4 finale aired on June 16 and there was a dire lack of Lady Stoneheart. Well, director Alex Graves has revealed the reason why she was missing! Read on and tell us if you agree with the ‘GoT’ team’s decision!
The most-talked-about moment from last night’s Game of Thrones finale just might be a scene that didn’t air and wasn't filmed. Book readers and Game of Thrones obsessives who’ve had certain plot points spoiled for them had been anticipating the resurrection of a certain character brought back to life in the epilogue of A Storm of Swords , the third book in the George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice series. But the only thing that rose from the dead were those skeletal zombies known as wights — fortunately, they were pretty cool.
In fact, it makes sense on a lot of levels to wait. At this point in the books, she's only appeared in two chapters, and then only briefly. I can very much see D&D waiting to bring her in until she has a bit more to do ( especially if they have any thoughts of bringing Michelle Fairley back for the role). Also, it's a tease that would drive TV viewers completely insane, without any possibility for the slightest bit of resolution for goodness knows how long — better to wait. Plus, Lady Stoneheart is such an unknown at this point in the books generating new stories for her is practically impossible compared to other characters whose trajectories are more obvious.
The Lady Stoneheart reveal works on the page because it occurs at the end of the same novel in which Catelyn was killed. She never leaves our mind and her death still hurts. There are about 400 pages between her murder and her resurrection on the page, while onscreen, we haven’t seen her since last season. ‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 was never about Catelyn; it’s been about everyone else. Tossing her at the end of the season would have been just plain disrespectful. To make her return as memorable as the books, it’s going to need some build-up.
