Broadway Blues
If you're ever lucky enough to get inside Derek Jeter's sprawling St. Petersburg mansion, don't expect a souvenir snapshot. NEW YORK – Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist sure looked spiffy standing at a media room podium following the proudest moment of what's becoming a Hall of Fame career. Reigning Vezina Trophy winner Henrik Lundqvist made a strong case for save of the year on Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres.
The Blackhawks continued to score in the second, this time on the power play when Jonathan Toews found Brian Campbell at the side of the net to take a three-goal lead. The Blues looking more to break Huet's shutout rather than looking for the win pulled their goalie with two minutes left in the game. After numerous chances, Sharp would dig out a loose puck on the blue line and find Byfuglien who made no mistake scoring into the empty net from center ice and securing the shutout for Huet.
You know, it's going to be a great challenge. We're going to play against a really good team. It's about, for us, in the room to remind each other that this is such a special moment that you have to grab. You have to make sure you're ready and play your absolute best. You're not going to get that many opportunities. I've been here for nine years. This is my first final, and now it's all about preparing the right way and try to leave it all out there.”
Both teams would struggle to find the net in the first two periods as the Oilers' Dwayne Roloson and the Coyotes' Ilya Bryzgalov put on a goaltending clinic making numerous saves off of great scoring chances by both teams. Bryzgalov robbed Erik Cole on a wide-open opportunity as a shot from the point took a strange bounce off the end-boards right onto Cole's stick who was sitting on the opposite side of the net. With nothing but what seemed to be an open net to shoot at, Bryzaglov who challenged the initial shot dove from being out of position and snagged the shot destined for the top corner.
