Solar Power
SOLEC-Solar Energy Corporation is the world’s largest manufacturer of specialized heat reflecting and absorbing optical coatings for the solar, building, roofing, automotive, aeronautics and manufacturing industries.
While solar power certainly is less polluting than fossil fuels, some problems do exist. Some manufacturing processes are associated with greenhouse gas emissions. Nitrogen trifluroide and sulfur hexafluoride has been traced back to the production of solar panels. These are some of the most potent greenhouse gases and have many thousand times the impact on global warming compared to carbon dioxide. Transportation and installation of solar power systems can also indirectly cause pollution.
Most of the papers published in Solar Energy are Regular Papers that give in-depth treatment to a particular topic (no more than 20 pages long or about 6,000 words). However, Solar Energy also publishes Brief Notes (no more than 1500 words or about 3 journal pages). A Brief Note must be a self-contained, small contribution. Often it is a critique or a response to something previously published in Solar Energy Other times it is a short note describing a modification or enhancement to an existing algorithm or method or results, based on known methods.
For example, if a project has $1 million in above-market costs, and Energy Trust provides $500,000 in incentives, Energy Trust may take one-half of the RECs generated in each year of the project’s estimated operating life. If Energy Trust offers less funding than the RECs are worth in credible REC markets, Energy Trust will reduce its share of RECs on a negotiated basis. Energy Trust holds the RECs in trust for the ratepayers who contribute the funds we invest in renewable projects. Tax Credits
