Actor and humanitarian Karlheinz Böhm died aged 86 near Salzburg. He was born March 16th 1928 in Darmstadt, Germany. His father was the world-famous conductor Karl Böhm. Karlheinz Böhm died aged 86 after a long illness at his home in Grödig, near Salzburg late Thursday, a spokesperson from his aid organization announced on Friday.

Bohm turned to activism in later years, founding the charity Humans for Humans after losing a bet on German TV show Wanna Bet?. The charity raises money to help people in Ethiopia.
